The Silent Killer, Radon
Radon is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless radioactive substance classified as a Group 1 carcinoge
by the World Health Organization (WHO), known to cause lung cancer. Although invisible,
it constantly threatens our lives from behind the scenes of our living spaces.
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas and a class 1 carcinogen. When inhaled, it mainly emits ionizing radiation from the lungs, causing genetic mutations in cells and can cause lung cancer. There are many research results showing that radon causes blood cancer, skin cancer, brain cancer, heart attack, and stroke in addition to lung cancer. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) warned that "there are far more deaths from radon than from traffic accidents." On February 22, Radon (222Rn) Day, we learned about the dangers of radon in indoor air and how to reduce it with the comprehensive environmental hygiene company SESCO.
