The Silent Killer, Radon
Radon is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless radioactive substance classified as a Group 1 carcinoge
by the World Health Organization (WHO), known to cause lung cancer. Although invisible,
it constantly threatens our lives from behind the scenes of our living spaces.
Representative Hwang Un-ha and 12 others announced on the 13th that they had proposed a partial revision bill to the Housing Act.
The reason for the proposal and its main contents are that the current law requires the use of building materials that meet the “Health-Friendly Housing Construction Standards (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Notice)” when carrying out housing construction projects with 500 or more households or remodeling. In particular, hazardous elements such as lead (pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), and hexavalent chromium (Cr 6) contained in paints used for interior finishing must meet the eco-labeling certification standards.
