Namgu Council member Park Yong-hwa gave a 5-minute free speech at the 1st plenary session of the 298th 2nd regular session held on the 27th, saying, “Active publicity regarding the harmful effects of radon, a class 1 carcinogen, is necessary.”
Rep. Park said, "The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified radon as a group 1 carcinogen, along with smoking, asbestos, and benzene, and the WHO considers radon to be a major cause of lung cancer in non-smokers."
