Radon is a group 1 carcinogen designated by the WHO and is a hazardous substance that is difficult to measure without specialized measuring equipment due to its colorless, tasteless, and odorless properties.
Most people living in modern times spend most of their daily lives indoors, and most of these spaces, including work environments, residential, leisure, and cultural environments, and even medical facilities, are made of concrete, which releases harmful substances such as TVOC (new house syndrome-causing substances), cement poison, and radon, a class 1 carcinogen, causing serious damage to the human body.
In fact, most apartments, which account for 50% of all housing types in Korea, exceed the Ministry of Environment’s recommended standard of 148 Bq, and some places even exceed the standard by 7 to 10 times.
