The Supreme Court has ruled that Daejin Bed, a mattress manufacturer that was found to contain the carcinogen radon, must compensate the affected consumers. This is the first time since the 'radon mattress' controversy that a consumer has won a lawsuit.
The Supreme Court's 1st Division (Chief Justice Noh Tae-ak) announced on the 3rd that it will uphold the partial victory of the plaintiff in the damages lawsuit filed by approximately 130 consumers, including Lee, against Daejin Bed.
According to the final ruling, Daejin Bed must pay the full purchase price and 1 million won in compensation to each mattress buyer.
